KEXP Seattle

Seattle's KEXP is just plain fun when a person is nose-to-the-screen cranking out ArcView projects. Crank it up!

Mind's Eye

Bill Dickinson, Emeritus Geosciences Professor at the University of Arizona told me the other day that 'geologists are so accustomed to picturing in our "mind's eye" the subsurface geologic formations, ore deposits, aquifers, that are the subjects of our study, that it is easy to forget how difficult that is for non-geologists.' This reminded me of my first geological "mind's eye" experience, a Wyoming faulted anticline became apparent to me only after several frustrating days of attempting to draw my first geologic map. Steve Reynolds is a Geology Professor at Arizona State University has devoted a lot of time to "mind's eye" training.

Climate At Home

I am one of about 15,000 volunteers taking part in a large cooperative computing experience called climateprediction.net . Collectively, participants are running the world's largest climate prediction experiment to help forecast global climate in the 21st century. Anyone with a computer can volunteer, and there is a real need for this work.
